2008 IHE Connectathon Open DayThis free Workshop is jointly offered by the RANZCR and ADIA, HL7 Australia and Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE). With the move from film to digital imaging the challenge is how to look after patient interests while keeping the referrers and image users happy (surgeons, GPs). Most practices are grappling with these issues and this forum will explore the issue from all perspectives. Standard images on CD and web access are part of the solution but not the whole story! The IHE portable data for imaging profile is now the standard for image transfer in Australia. In both the pathology and radiology sectors standards for HL7 messaging have also been adopted as part of national accreditation schemes. Practical advice and training will be provided to radiology and pathology IT managers about how to test messages and CDs for conformance. This will provide skills for self testing and quality assurance of electronic outputs to referrers. This Workshop will provide an opportunity for hands-on testing and a guided tour of the IHE Connectathon testing their products against international standards to support radiology and pathology interoperability. Please bring examples of pathology and radiology messages and images on CDs for self-testing.Venue: National ICT Australia, Tower A, 7 London Circuit, Canberra
